Thankfulness

I’m sitting at my desk trying to remember if I have accomplished everything on my list that is supposed to be complete.  I can assure you that there is something I have missed yet I cannot remember right now what it is.  If you can remember, please let me know.

The Tannery & Company team wishes you and your family a Merry Christmas.  Our office will close at 12:00 on Friday, December 22, 2017.  We will return Tuesday, December 26, 2017.

The past few days have been filled with conversations and discussions of you and your family’s plans and travel for the Christmas holiday. I have enjoyed being involved in every one of these conversations with you. The joy that you share multiplies and creates joy in everyone’s life that you touch.   I smile knowing our entire Tannery & Company team has much to be thankful for in the friendships and connections that have been created over the years.

The hustle and bustle of the holidays can overwhelm you.  Take some time today or this weekend and find a quiet place for yourself.  Even if it is only five minutes.  Take that moment to close your eyes and then you can “see” what is around you that brings you reason to give thanks.

I am thankful for my health, for being able to swim, bike and run and eat dessert twice (or three times) at Christmas dinners.

I am thankful for family, it has grown the past few years with marriages and new in-laws.  The blessings of family abound.

I am thankful for our office “family” The “family” has grown together over the past few years.  Thanks, Summer, Will, Carol, Susan, Nora, and Tina.

I am thankful for Buddy and his office friend Leila.  He is a Godwink in my life and gives me the daily opportunity to remember, see, and experience unconditional love.

I am thankful for the gift of working with our clients and the trust they place in us to work together in creating their family’s future.

I am thankful for living most of my life in Richardson, Texas.  My roots are deep here, and we have a great city.

I am thankful for my friends.  Over the years I have enjoyed many relationships that have endured the test of time and distance.  Each of you has a special place in my life and heart.

I am thankful for You – For being who you are and touching the world with your presence and being alive.  For giving me the chance to touch your life and fulfill my purpose to help others…

With much gratitude, Merry Christmas

    Why 1% makes a difference

In our life, we spend a lot of time thinking about problems. What if we say a magic word and make them all go away? Maybe we can.

The words aren’t like Dorothy clicking her red heels together and saying “There’s no place like home”. You don’t need Greek phrases or a special diet/pill you saw on the shopping channel to make it work, either.

Surprise is it not a four letter word, it is worse, it’s a simple six-letter word: growth.

Why is “The Bachelor” such a popular TV Show?

Is it the ability to live in a fantasy world versus the reality that shows a record amount of unmarried adults today in their 20’s and early 30’s ? Today’s young men and women are independent, college educated, and unmarried versus earlier generations of American men and women in their age group. If the trends…

The Ups and Downs of Getting Fit

Sunday morning at about 9:00AM Dallas time I will start my journey for the Napa to Sonoma Half Marathon by going down the hill at the Cuvaison Carneros Winery in Napa County to turn left and ascend up Butt-Burner Hill. It is ONLY 3/10’s of a mile but for me, it might be more like running the steps with Rocky. When I get to the top, I will see three things. Off to my left about 20+ miles will be the San Francisco Bay, and for the next 2 miles, the view is incredible. Check out my Instagram account and I will focus on getting a picture of the view and the other two things I will see.

This past Wednesday at Executive Toastmasters, Mark Siegel, DTM gave the week’s inspiration. With his permission, I have incorporated into this week’s blog. Thanks Mark!

    What would Dad do?

Security has changed dramatically since the 1960’s as has our ability to transact business instantaneously on the internet and our smart-phone.

We can check a balance in our checking accounts, transfer money and order a new item from Amazon all while sitting in the carpool line. Keeping your financial data secure requires more than a three-foot stick to keep the hackers out of your financial life.
